The Mother…I’ve been a Montessori teacher for about eight years (six years in the classroom before my baby break!) and involved in coordinating children’s programs for over a decade.
Now, I’m at home with my daughter and am trying to bring the Montessori philosophy into our home and everyday lives. Though I’m familiar (and love!) Montessori, I taught elementary, so this Montessori Toddler and Casa stuff (and, let’s face it, this toddler stuff in general) is all new to me!
I’m learning as I go! And isn’t that the best? Certainly keeps me busy, at least
The Motherload refers to the load of…well, stuff that parents must balance everyday. (And yes, it is purposely spelled “load” here!)
Freestyle is my funny and sweet daughter. She
likes loves to dance to the beat of her own drum.
Real Baby is my baby girl with the “big D” smile (she smiles so wide that it looks like a capital ‘D’ on its side!). Why is she nicknamed “Real Baby?” Read about that here.
Schwinn Trek, not Harley!) is my partner and all-around nice guy.
With the encouragement of my good friend E (hello!), I decided to start writing a blog to motivate myself to write more. I played around with a few ideas for a blog and finally settled on this. I figured that it was the best way to make sure my, um, laissez-faire self actually goes out to research, make materials, and show Freestyle Montessori activities and lessons. Also, it’ll be a great way to document progress.
Also, it will help address the incredible dearth of blogs written by suburban, middle-class, (more or less) stay-at-home moms. Ha.
Thanks for reading,
